August Favorites and Misses

Here are some of favorites from the month of August and some things that I have not been loving as much.

Favorites

Wet N' Wild Color Correctors

Towards the beginning of the month I made a dedicated post to the whole Wet n' Wild Cushion Collection and these color correctors are by far my favorites that came out of that post!! They are pigmented, but blend out so smoothly and helped even out my skin and make it look flawless!

Wet N' Wild Megaglo Highlighters

In my most recent post about the Wet n' Wild Queen of Hearts Collection I spoke about these blinding highlighters. I have been loving these for a few months now and they may not be the most wearable everyday highlighters, but they are absolutely beautiful!! If you want to rock a lilac purple highlight, I say go for it!

Pür Cosmetics Contour Diaries Palette

As I mentioned in my post about the Diaries Collection, I really enjoyed this contour palette. I know it is another typical contour palette with three highlight shades and three contour shades, but the way these shade blended out was so beautiful. I have tried other palettes like this that were overly powdery and had little to no pigment at all, but these were all so creamy and pigmented and blended out smoothly!

Juvia's Place Masquerade Palette

This palette is one of the best palettes I have ever tried. There is not one shadow that is patchy or not very pigmented, there is little to no kickback at all and the shades are all just so creamy and smooth. I never would have imagined that I would love a palette with such bold colors, but I have fallen in love and it really inspires me to be more creative.

The Beauty Crop #GRLPWR Liquid Lipsticks

This is a product that I actually have not spoken about on my blog before. During August I received my first Boxycharm subscription box and this was a liquid lipstick that was included in my box (I received the shade called Date Night). This liquid lipstick felt so smooth and comfortable on my lips and dried down so fast. It lasted almost all day through many meals with only minor cracking. I will definitely be looking into this brand and buying more of these liquid lipsticks!

Boscia Charcoal Jelly Ball Cleanser

I know I have already mentioned this cleanser in last months favorites, but I just have to talk about it again! I have been using this cleanser so consistently now that the ball is getting a lot smaller, but I have noticed a great improvement in my skin! It is generally a big deal for me to use a cleanser this consistently because I always love trying new things, but this has become a consistent favorite of mine that I will definitely repurchase!

Misses

Peel-Off Lipsticks

Overall, these were not the best products no matter which brand it was. Each one had its own difficulties in patchiness, how difficult it was to peel off, or how long it wore. In particular though, the brand that was the biggest miss for me was OMG. There was so much transfer onto my chin, it never fully dried down, and almost all of the shades were patchy.

Wet N' Wild Perfect Pout Lip Palette

As I mentioned in my post on the Queen of Hearts Collection from Wet n' Wild, this was my least favorite product from that collection. As you can see from the picture of swatches above there are some shades that are very pigmented, but there are also a lot of shades that only have a slight tint of colour leading them to all look the same once they are on the lips. This was the primary issue for me as I don't often use a clear/sheer colour on top, I like something more pigmented and a lot of these were not.

That is it for my favorites and misses of August! Thank you all for viewing this post and I will have another one up for you all soon!!

Review: Wet n' Wild Queen of Hearts Collection

I've been holding on to this collection for a while now and just now got to posting a review for you guys. On the bright side though it has given me a lot of time to test out these products to give you guys a good review! So I'll talk about each product in the collection from my favorite to my least favorite, but first some swatches!

Swatches

Swatches of the Megaglo Cheek & Lip Tints and the Megaglo Highlighters.

Swatches of the Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios.

Swatches of the Perfect Pout Lip Palette.

Megaglo Highlighting Powders

The purple Megaglo Highlighter.

The pink Megaglo Highlighter.

These highlighters are oh my god absolutely amazing!! They are so pigmented and definitely blinding. If you are looking for a blinding, glowing highlighter I would definitely recommend these. The pink one is obviously a little more wearable for everyday than the lilac one, but they are both beautiful. The only thing I will say is that they feel very rough when you touch it with your fingers, but I do not feel as though that affects application in this case

Kabuki Brush

I find it harder to review brushes, but you really can't go wrong with a good kabuki brush and that's exactly what this is. Ever since I bought this collection this has become my new favorite brush for applying blush and I don't think that is going to change any time soon.

Look 3

I have never tried any Wet N' Wild eyeshadows before (to be honest, I never thought the quality would be good because of the price), but I am glad I've tried them now. These applied and blended out smoothly with very little kick back and I love the three trios of shades they chose for this collection.

Megaglo Cheek & Lip Tint

I was not expecting to like these as much as I did, but I was surprisingly impressed with them! I loved all three colors and they were very pigmented. Now they are obviously not long lasting on the lips and you do need to work to blend them out smoothly on your cheeks. Other than that these are a great product to have on hand.

Perfect Pout Lip Palette

Now this was my least favorite item in the collection. That's not to say that this was a bad product, it's just that it was my least favorite in the collection. My main issue with this palette is that there were quite a few shades that looked like just another clear top color, rather than being nicely pigmented like some of the other shades. In addition, for me personally I do not think a lip gloss palette is not essential to my collection and is just not something I would normally jump for.

Overall, there are a few products in this collection I would highly recommend. The first, which is an absolute must have in my opinion are the amazing, blinding highlighters! They are just too beautiful to pass up!! If you do not already own a good kabuki brush, I would definitely recommend the one from this collection and I would also recommend trying out some of the eyeshadow trios. On the other hand, the cheek & lip tints did give me a pleasant surprise, but I would not say that they are a must have go-to. In addition, as I mentioned, I do not think the lip palette is a necessary product from this collection and I would suggest passing on it.

Review: New Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

I am going to start this blog off with a disclaimer for you all; I did receive this mascara for free through a website called Influenster. Basically the concept is that you review products from different brands and you have the opportunity to receive new products for free to review; and I am lucky enough that this is the first thing I have ever received from them to review!! Now with all that being said let's get into the review!!

To be completely honest I have never tried a mascara from Revlon before and did not even know that they had released a new mascara. The claims for this mascara are that it is flake-free, smudge proof, and will provide your lashes with mega volume and extended length. Since my lashes have everything wrong with them (they literally stick straight out, they are very short, and they have no length) I am hoping this mascara can help with some of these problems!

When first applied at 7:30 am.

My initial impressions of this mascara upon first application was that it really did add a lot of volume to my lashes like it claimed it would. I was very impressed and saw an immediate difference in the volume of my lashes. However, I did not see a real noticeable difference in the length of my lashes.

At 8:27 pm at the end of the day.

At the end of the day this mascara was true its word and did not flake or smudge all day. Throughout the day I had to walk in the rain and wait for buses in the rain multiple times and it held up with absolutely no smudging at all!!

Overall, this mascara was great for adding some extra volume to the lashes and held up great throughout the day! However, besides adding volume to my lashes I found that it did not add anything else to my lashes. I think if the major issue you have with your lashes is a lack of volume then this is a great drugstore mascara to try out. For me personally I will definitely continue to use this mascara, but just for a more casual daytime look.

Review

Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette

I think this is a really nice palette with a lot of nice neutral shades. Now this is not a palette that you can create a ton of looks with; it is a good base palette to work with other palettes. So if you already have a lot of neutral basic shades this may not be the palette for you. Another issue I had with this palette is that the shades Snazzy and Epic were a little patchy swatching and applying to the lid/Blending. However, every other shade was great to work with and I especially liked the four glittery shades in the palette.

Contour Diaries Palette

When it comes to contour palettes I am not too picky. As long as they are pigmented and blend out easily I am generally happy with it and this palette checked off both of those boxes. It is a typical contour palette with three contour shades and three highlight shades. I personally have been going back and forth between the lightest highlight shade (because pale of course) and the middle banana coloured shade. Overall, I really enjoyed playing with this palette.

Overall I think this is a great basics collection to have if you are starting off in makeup. I would highly recommend the contour palette to anyone and I think the eyeshadow palette is a good basic palette. As I mentioned earlie, the only issue I have with the eyeshadow palette is that you have to work a little harder to blend the two darker colours (Snazzy and Epic) in the palette.
