Review and Looks: Urban Decay x Jean-Michel Basquiat Collection

The Urban Decay and Jean-Michel Basquiat Collection has recently gone on sale on Sephora and I picked up everything except for the bright green eyeliner (called Post Punk) as I feel I would not use this shade regularly and the lipstick in the shade Abstract as I feel it would be too light a color for my pale skin. With that being said, lets get into some swatches!!

Swatches

Swatches from the Gold Griot Eyeshadow Palette.

Swatches from the Tenant Eyeshadow Palette.

Swatches from the eye liners, lipsticks, and blush palette.

The top two swatches are the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (in Vivid and Anatomy), the next two are the lipstick swatches (in Epigram and Exhibition), and finally swatches from the Gallery Blush Palette.

Review

First of all, one feature I loved about the eye shadow palettes and the cheek palette, not related to quality of the shades, is that there is a spot on the back so that you can hang these palettes on your wall since they are also pieces of art. For me I love these little details that just make a product more unique, and if you are a big makeup lover or collector I think it would be kind of neat to have a piece of art/palette on your wall.

Now for a review of the actual products them self, I will start off with the lipsticks since I am obsessed with lipstick and I loved both of these lipsticks for their formulas and colours. The shade Epigram in the Cream formula went on so nice and smooth and well creamy and the shade Exhibition in the Comfort Matte formula was just that, a comfortable matte, the names don't lie! In terms of the shades, I always like a good nude/brown colour and I was actually surprised as to how much I loved the shade Exhibition as I normally do not go for a brighter lip. Next, I also loved both shades of the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil that I purchase. They both applied so nice and smoothly, the only issue I had with them was when applying Vivid in my waterline for the third look I had to work with it quite a bit to get it really pigmented. So if you tend to have more of a wet waterline I would look for a different liner if that is where you were planning on putting it. Overall, I have really nothing bad to say about the Gallery Blush Palette, I really loved the highlighter and all the shades blended out beautifully. Finally, I loved both of the eyeshadow palettes. If you are not one for bright colours I would not recommend the Tenant palette, but it did bring out a more creative side of me. In addition, the shades are very very pigmented, which is great, but if you are new to eyeshadows you will need to do a lot of blending to make it look nice. Overall though, this whole collection is absolutely beautiful and I would recommend any item from the collection to anyone!

Thank you all for viewing my post and I will have another one up soon!!

How It Wore: Covergirl Total Tease Mascara

This mascara has been getting a lot of attention lately because of the weird wand and as I've said before, I love trying out weird and different products. This mascara states that it is supposed to give you full, lengthened lashes and the teaser comb on the end of the wand is supposed to help fan out the lashes. So let's get into how the mascara wore and the review.

How it Wore

8:32 am: First application; it was a little clumpy at first, but once I used the teaser comb it fanned out my lashes nicely and got rid of the clumps. On first application it did a good job of making my lashes look more full, but it did not lengthen them a whole lot like I expected them to.

1:39 pm: After checking my mascara it was holding up pretty well, they only issue I had at this point was that there seemed to be a little bit of flaking on my eyelid, but other than that all was good.

4:38 pm: It still was holding up well at this point in the day, but there was a little more smudging on the lower lashline.

11:13 pm: Other than the little bit of flaking and smudging that happened earlier the mascara held up by the end of the day.

Review

I have mixed feelings on this mascara, so first I will start off with the cons of this mascara and then get into the pros. When I first opened the tube it had a really strong, bad chemical smell to it that really threw me off, but since it i8s not near your nose you can't really smell it throughout the day. In addition, the mascara was very wet and sticky for a little while after applying it and my bangs kept getting stuck to my lashes. Also since it was so wet it was a little messy to apply. The biggest issue I had though was that it says that it is supposed to lengthen your lashes and I found that it did not really lengthen them at all. On the other hand, the teaser comb did a great job of getting rid of clumps and fanning out my lashes to make them look fuller. In addition, although it did not curl my lashes (which it did not claim to do anyways) it held the curl from my eyelash curler all day. Overall, I'd say this mascara is not necessary, but it is definitely not a bad mascara either.

Weird Products: Pürminerals Lava Rocks

I have always like trying weird and different products so when I saw these Lava Rocks in the sale section on Pür Cosmetics's website I new I had to try it! These are said to "add depth, dimension, and drama with micronized minerals in a unique, 3-dimensional design. Multi-tasking Lava Rocks enhance eyes, lips and cheeks with a dose of luminous color". Therefore, I have tested this product as a blush, an eye shadow, and a lip product.

Review

This product is very very pigmented so I will caution you not to go in with a heavy hand because you will be doing a lot of blending, especially when applying it to your cheeks. In regards to application on my cheeks, I will have to continue playing with this a bit since it is so pigmented and I am so pale it might be a little too dark as a blush for myself, but would be very nice for deeper skin tones. However, I loved this as an eye shadow and even on my lips. In terms of application to the lips I loved the way it looked, but you cannot put it on straight as is. You have to apply a lip balm or gloss first so that the pigment sticks to it and you do have to work with it a bit, but it the end result is very pretty. I also think you could use this on top of other lip colors to add depth and dimension. One downside to this product though is that this is the only shade the product comes in, I feel if there were some more shade options it would work better for different skin tones as a blush. However; overall, this is a very versatile product and even though I myself would probably not use it again as a blush because of my pale skin tone, I will definitely continue to use it for my eyes and lips.

Review: BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Palette

I have recently purchased the BECCA Cosmetics and Chrissy Teigen collaboration and I have been playing with it for a couple of weeks now so I have decided to share my thoughts on it with all of you!

Swatches: Hibiscus Bloom Blush, Beach Nectar Highlight, Malibu Soleil Bronzer,
Rose Gold Highlight

Upon first swatching I noticed how pigmented the shades are and I was a little concerned that this palette would be too dark on my pale skin. All of the colors swatched beautifully on my arms, the only one that I had to swatch twice was the Hibiscus Bloom Blush. However, I do not like a very strong blush so in my opinion it is better to have to build up a blush than to try and tone it down after it has already been applied.

A look using the palette (I am in love with that highlight!! 😍)

In the above picture I used everything from this palette (the Hibiscus Bloom Blush, the Malibu Soleil Bronzer, and the Beach Nectar Highlight) except for the Rose Gold Highlight. All the shades applied beautifully and were very easy to blend out.

Overall, I was a little nervous buying this palette that it would not suit my skin tone, but it blends so seamlessly that I could imagine almost anyone being able to use this palette. The colors are beautifully pigmented and apply evenly. Overall, I would definitely recommend this palette!

5 Looks: Tarte Tartelette in Bloom Palette

First off I'd like to apologize for not posting last week, I am still new to this and am working hard to get better and be able to provide content to you all. With that being said, lets get into the post!! Tarte is one of my favorite makeup brands, actually probably my favorite makeup brand! Over time I've bought a few of their eyeshadow palettes and have never been disappointed with them. Their palettes are also really great for beginners because you can easily make a look with each row without having to worry if the colors will go together or not. So I have decided to share five looks I created with the Tarte Tartelette in Bloom palette and in the future will be sharing looks from other palettes too.

Row 1

Row 2

Row 3

Look 1 (Row 1)

How I created this look:
- Charmer all over the lid
- Jetsetter blended into the crease
- Rocker on the center of the lid
- Smokeshow on the outer corner and outer crease

Look 2 (Row 2)

How I created this look:
- Flower child all over the lid
- Smarty Pants blended into the crease
- Activist on the outer corner and outer lower lashline
- Firecracker on the center of the lid and inner corner

Look 3 (Row 3)

How I created this look:
- Sweetheart all over the lid
- Rebel blended into the crease
- Leader on the outer corner
- Flower Girl on the center of the lid and the inner corner

Look 4

How I created this look:
- Jetsetter all over the lid
- Sweetheart in the crease
- Activist in the outer crease and outer corner
- Firecracker on the center of the lid
- Rocker on the inner corner

Look 5

How I created this look:
- Smarty Pants all over the lid
- Leader buffed into the crease
- Smokeshow on the outer and inner corner of the lid
-Funny Girl on the center if the lid and the inner corner

As I mentioned before, I absolutely love Tarte and their palettes. This is a popular palette of theirs and the colors blend beautifully. However, you definitely do need to tap the excess off your brush before you start applying the colors to your eyes as they are a little powdery. Although I do love this palette in general, but the third row is my favorite, the shades are the most pigmented and Funny Girl is an absolutely beautiful shade!!

Thank you all for viewing my post and I promise I will have another post up soon!

Review

Like the AOA Wonder Metallic liquid lipsticks, the AOA Wonder Matte liquid lipsticks apply really smoothly and dry down nicely and fast. I'll start off sharing some of my favorite shades and then get into some of the shades that were a little patchy and needed two layers. First off the shades I loved were; Blessed (2009), Fab (2014) even though it did require two coats, Tease (2017) which I wear all the time, and Drama (2018). As I have mentioned in past posts, darker colors are harder to get even and pigmented so I was pleasantly surprised at how opaque the shade Lit (2016) was with one layer.

As I have said before I know some shades don't necessarily suit me but I didn't dislike any of the shades except for the shade Nom Nom (2001). This shade needed two layers to be nice and even and opaque and overall I just really did not like the color; however, this is just a personal preference and I believe that anyone can rock any color that they want to! There were some other shades that needed two layers in order to be even and opaque as well. These shades were; Trend (2007), Likes (2013), Fab (2014) as I have mentioned previously, Bounce (2015), Insta (2019), Sugar (2023), and Vintage (2024). That is not to say that these shades were not good, they were still beautiful, they just needed to be built up with a second layer of color.

Overall I think these are great lipsticks and upon first swatching I think they are definitely worth it especially considering they are only $1 US. In the future I will be doing a How They Wore post on both the metallic and matte liquid lipsticks to test that out for you all. Thank you all for viewing my post and I will have another one up for you all soon!!
