5 Things I Did Wrong When I First Started Doing My Makeup

I know I am still not the most talented person at applying makeup and everyone makes mistakes here and there. This lead me to think about some of the horrible looking or just plain stupid mistakes I used to make in applying my makeup.

Mistake 1 (Foundation Fiasco)

This first mistake is one of those just plain stupid mistakes and a lack of knowledge. When I first started watching YouTube videos I would hear beauty bloggers/influencers say that their next step would be setting their foundation and concealer. And in my mind I was like 'wow this is great, I never knew to set my foundation and concealer before'! However, the catch is I heard 'set your face' and immediately thought of a setting spray instead of setting my face with a powder. So for a while I would set my foundation and Concelear with a setting spray which would mean that I was applying all my powders on an even more wet and sticky face making my Blush and all my other powder products patchy and streaky, not a good look!

Mistake 2 (Concealing Imperfections)

This next mistake was both bad looking and a little stupid too. When I first heard of colour correctors for redness I thought it would be perfect for those times when blemishes popped up, which it was. However, since it is a colour corrector I assumed that I did not need to still put my regular concealer on top, which I discovered is not the case. Although the green does correct the red of blemishes, there will still be a slight green tint in most cases where you used the colour corrector. So while it still got rid of the redness, I was also walking around with a green tint in random places on my face.

Mistake 3 (Fallout Fail)

This next mistake is a common one that is bound to happen at some point. However, I would make this mistake every single day. I would never tap the excess off my brush before applying it and I wouldn't bother to wipe away the fallout beneath my eyes, so I would be walking around with eyeshadow sprinkled all under my eyes. I have since learned how important it is to tap off excess pigment before going in. Even if it seems like a really creamy not powdery shadow always tap the brush because it can turn into a big mess if you don't!

Mistake 4 (Mascara Mess)

Eyelash curlers are a great tool that everyone should have even if you already have the most beautiful curled lashes. I however did not learn how necessary this tool was, especially for myself, until much later on! To briefly explain my eyelashes to you, basically any problem you can have with your lashes I have with mine; they are very short, thin, and have no curl at all (they pretty well stick straight out. Since I had not discovered an eyelash curler for a while (and when I first did it terrified me so I wouldn't use it), whenever I would apply mascara within minutes I would have mascara smudged all over my glasses since my lashes were always pressed to my glasses.

Mistake 5 (Raccoon Eyeliner)

This last mistake is one of those mistakes that just looked absolutely terrible. I used to be afraid to put anything too close to my eye, so as much as I loved the idea of putting eyeliner in my waterline, I would never do it. Instead I would put my eyeliner directly below my waterline, which if done right can look not too bad at all. However, I was so nervous that I would never make a straight line and keep adding more liner to try and make it straight and evenly. This resulted in a big thick black line below my eye that looked either like a raccoon or liked I had a black eye!

That is all for today, I hope you all enjoyed reading about all the makeup mistakes I've made in the past and I hope you all can learn from my past mistakes!! Thank you all for viewing my post and I will have another one up soon!!
