Weird Products: Battle of the Peel-Off Lipsticks

I would like to start off with apologizing to you all for not posting for a week, I moved into a new apartment and was also standing in a friend's wedding so I was very busy. However, I am going to work extra hard to get more posts up for you guys, so lets get into this post! Last year peel-off lipsticks were a big thing going around on YouTube and a lot of beauty bloggers tried them out and reviewed them. However, a couple of months ago I did a haul from the website Shop Miss A which has a ton of products for only $1 and I noticed that they had three different brands of peel-off lipstick. So I decided to see if these were actually worth it and test out which brand was the best in three categories.

Round 1 (Arm Swatches)

OMG

Just from the arm swatches alone this brand of peel-off lip stain has a really bad smell to is and comes out of the tube uncontrollably as soon as you open it without even squeezing it. Overall it was really messy and I was not impressed with the arm swatches after they peeled off (they are kind of a mess).

Santee

I noticed a bit of a bad smell from these peel-off lip stains, but definitely not as bad as the OMG ones. These tubes also had an issue with the product coming out uncontrollably making it a little messy to try and work with. I was really impressed with pigmentation overall although there were a few shades that were a little patchy.

Starry

Out of the three brands this one was definitely the easiest to work with and the thickest formula. I also found that these were the most opaque shades overall across the three brands.

Round 2 (Lip Swatches)

I mean I think the disgusted look on my face in half of these pictures really speaks for itself. Once again, they were all very liquidy going on and there was a slight stinging sensation almost right away. However, since the arm swatches were not too great I was pleasantly surprised at how pigmented and opaque each of these shades were! In terms of peeling off though they were a little difficult to grab hold of and peel off and there was a bad taste afterwards too. In addition, it did not dry completely and my lips were still sticky after being peeled off.

Lovely Pink and Sexy Purple were my two favorite (and the most pigmented) shades out of this group. This brand was definitely easier to peel than the OMG brand, but the inner rim of the lips was harder to peel off and never really dried completely, so it is a little messy.

Starry

Vibrant Red and Kiss Orange were two shades that were particularly patchy, but other than that they were very nicely pigmented and this brand was the easiest one to peel off.

 Round 3 (How They Wore)

OMG

First application

10:13 am: First application after peeling it off.

After only a couple of bites of lunch (not impressed)

12:17 pm: I only had a couple of bites of my lunch and my boyfriend immediately noticed a lot of product on my chin.

After supper update

7:49 pm: After supper it was very patchy and definitely more pigmented on the inner lip.

Final update

9:48 pm: There was still some pigment left at the end of the day, but it was very patchy.

Santee

First application

9:24 am: First application of the colour.

First (and only) update

11:18 am: After lunch the majority of the pigment was gone and by the time I ate supper all colour was gone

 Starry

First application

11:13 am: First application (I definitely should have used a lip scrub ahead of time)

 Post lunch update

1:41 pm: After lunch the colour had faded a little, but was still holding on pretty strong.

Post supper update

4:38 pm: After supper there was still some pigment but not a whole lot left.

Overall Review

Overall the best of these three brands and the one I would recommend to you all would be the brand Starry and the brand I would not recommend would be OMG, while Santee just kind of floated around the middle the whole time. Even though OMG was very pigmented on the lips, it did not last long at all on the lips and did not ever completely dry which is odd for a stain. Although I do have my preferences across the three brands I would not say these are a necessary addition to your collection at all. In my opinion they would be best if you are going to some kind of event (where you do not plan on eating anything at all). However, if this looks like something that would interest you and you want to give it a shot for $1 go for it, I personally would not purchase these again for myself.

Thank you all for viewing this post and I will have another one up for you all soon!!
